EverNote is a versatile note-taking application developed by EverNote Corporation. It allows users to record notes, manage tasks, organize information, and archive files. Originally released for Android and iOS, it was later launched for Windows on 7 October 2020. With an EverNote account and an internet connection, you can access your Notebooks across multiple devices.
What sets EverNote apart is its ability to store all your text notes and image files in one central location. This makes it convenient to access your notes and files whenever you need them. Whether you're using your phone or computer, you can quickly open your Notebooks and find the information you're looking for.
EverNote supports various note formats, including text, lists, photos, and saved web pages. You can even annotate images and PDF files, allowing you to communicate ideas and provide visual feedback. The web clipping function lets you capture screenshots and share them with your team later.
If you prefer writing notes by hand, EverNote also supports recording tablets and devices. The NoteBook feature allows you to search for specific words within your content. Additional features include document scanning, custom templates, and team spaces.
EverNote can be integrated with other apps, such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, and Gmail. This allows you to send emails directly from your notes or import tasks from other applications.
One of the top benefits of EverNote is its accessibility. You can access your Notebooks from anywhere, making it ideal for users on the go. However, an internet connection is required for synchronization, opening documents, and saving changes. While you can still access your files and create new notes offline on Windows, any changes made on other devices will only update on the server once you're connected to the internet again.
While EverNote offers a free version for Windows, it has limited functions compared to the Premium and Business plans. The free version only allows syncing on two devices, while the Premium plan offers access across unlimited platforms. Upgrading to Premium also increases the monthly upload limit from 60 MB to 10 GB and provides additional features such as offline access and PDF annotation.
The Business Plan offers even more tools, including team shared spaces, activity history, a 20 GB monthly upload limit, and a central admin account.
When comparing EverNote to other note-taking applications, OneNote stands out for its Ribbon function on Windows, which provides quick access to various tabs. Notion is also a strong competitor, offering consolidation tools in one space and a more affordable option. Google Keep is a lightweight platform with a minimalistic design, perfect for simple note-taking needs.
To install EverNote on Windows, you'll need to download the installation file and run it. Choose your preferred language and specify where you want to save the file. Accept the terms and conditions to begin the installation process.
EverNote is a versatile tool that allows you to save your thoughts anywhere, at any time. Whether you're online or offline, you can create text or image captions and easily search for specific words. While the free version has limitations, it is still a suitable option for note-taking.
